Being born with a passion for food I grew up in Germany, yet didn’t like most of the food. One much-loved go-to has always been ‘Bratkartoffeln’ – fried potatoes. Yum!

Famed for its sought-after eateries it is the strip to come to for dining, meeting friends, and going out for tasty delights and drinks. Not surprising then that Melbourne’s newest restaurant Henrietta’s opened shop here.
Unique dining experiences usually have three things in common – great food, excellent service, and a second-to-none atmosphere or location. Nothing could be more true than this for Strato Bar & Restaurant on Melbourne’s South Bank.
The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, affectionately referred to as SCIBS by those in the know, was yet again held on the Gold Coast. An event I had the pleasure of attending previously a few years ago, yet made a point of visiting again, and am glad I did.
If you’re a fan of unique designer hotels, then you’ve likely heard of Anouska Hempel and her impact on London’s hotel landscape. She is famed for her “Dark & Opulent” hotel, The Blakes in Kensington, which earned global recognition as the world’s first luxury boutique hotel in 1978 with its dark, eclectic and sensual interior. Then in 1996, the New Zealand-born Australian-raised British designer went to the other end of the spectrum with her Zen-inspired Hempel hotel.
Once you step off Whiteman St, behind Melbourne’s Crown Casino complex and into the foyer of the Kingpin venue, the qualms of life quickly disappear as you enter a timeless zone of fun, games, joy, and camaraderie.
The decor of hundreds of bowling pins facing down from the ceiling and walls frame the elongated bar surrounded by private booths combine with the excitement of games and fun to be had literally lures you in to want to be playful.

Unsuspecting as it may seem at first glance, the funky container-eatery set upon large wooden decks and surrounded by dozens of traditional ‘Strandkoerben’ (beach baskets) and even beach sand, is quite the spot here on Kiel Bay.
